THIS MONTH'S REFLECTION

SEPTEMBER 2026

Momentum:
Finding Your Way Back

Sometimes momentum isn't about keeping going.

Sometimes it's about finding your way back.

This month, I’m sharing a personal story about picking up my flute again after almost a year away and what it taught me about momentum, stopping, and starting again.

A moment that stayed with me

I started playing the flute again this week.

After almost a year away.

I've been learning for more than five years, and I've stopped and started more times than I can remember.

This time, something surprised me.

When I picked up the flute again, I realised I hadn't lost everything. There was still some familiarity. Some ability. Some progress from the years before.

It made me wonder:

Maybe momentum isn't always about never stopping. Maybe sometimes it's about making it easier to start again.

Reflection Questions

1

What is something you've stopped that you would like to return to?

2

What would make it easier for you to begin again?

3

What is the smallest version of that you could do today?

Take a few quiet minutes to journal on these questions.

Sometimes momentum begins with simply making the first step small enough to take.
